Job Objective
  1. To empower learners with visual impairments to acquire computer skills, including but not limited to keyboard skills, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), internet use, and accessibility tools. The job holder will provide computer training to special needs students using assistive technology software, assess learner progress, mentor and empower students, and effectively manage classroom dynamics.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • The IT Instructor will perform the following key duties:
  • Train visually impaired learners and teachers in basic and advanced computer skills, including MS Office Suite, internet use, and assistive technology.
  • Introduce learners, teachers, and interns to computer programming and web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Manage the daily operations of the computer lab.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain computer hardware and the local area network within the lab(s).
  • Manage and secure organizational documents and data stored both locally and in the cloud.
  • Collaborate with station leads to create social media stories and blog content.
  • Mentor and counsel young learners to enhance their confidence, self-esteem, and abilities.
  • Monitor and manage classroom dynamics to maintain a learning environment conducive to effective instruction.
  • Evaluate learners’ performance through the preparation, administration, marking, and processing of computer program assessments.
  • Support station leads in the implementation of special projects as required.
  • Provide learners with relevant digital learning resources.
  • Maintain hardware and ensure timely installation of important software updates.
  • Support the cleanliness and proper upkeep of the computer lab and equipment.
  • Attend all daily program meetings.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications
  • At least a Diploma in ICT / IT or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience; teaching experience will be an added advantage.
