Dream Achievers Youth Organization (DAYO) is a youth-led Public Benefit Organization registered under the former NGO’s Coordination Board with Registration Number OP.218/051/21-479/12560 and is based in Mombasa, Kenya. DAYO focuses on strengthening the capacity of young people across key thematic areas including community engagement and empowerment, health financing, media engagement, livelihoods development, entrepreneurship incubation, and youth-centered policy advocacy. The organization also intentionally works with socially excluded populations such as persons with disabilities, sexual and gender minorities, and young people.

  1. About the Project
The Blue Biz – Mwashi wa Muhogo Project seeks to strengthen the cassava value chain in Kilifi County by enhancing productivity, value addition, market access, enterprise development, and financial inclusion among youth and women agripreneurs. Building on the recently conducted cassava value chain and needs analysis, the project aims to develop a structured, competency-based technical training curriculum tailored to local actors across different nodes of the cassava value chain including: Production (seed systems, climate-smart agronomy), Aggregation and bulking, Processing and value addition, Quality assurance and standards, Marketing and access to finance, Business development and entrepreneurship and Environmental sustainability and circular economy practices To achieve this, DAYO seeks to engage a qualified Curriculum Development Consultant to lead the design and development of a practical, industry-responsive technical curriculum aligned to national standards and local market realities.
2. Assignment Objective
  • To design a competency-based, modular technical curriculum for cassava value chain actors in Kilifi County that strengthens technical capacity, enterprise skills, financial literacy, and market competitiveness under the Blue Biz program.

3. Scope of WorkA. Technical Curriculum DevelopmentThe Consultant will:
  • Review the cassava value chain and needs assessment report and proposal commitments.
  • Identify competency gaps across value chain nodes.
  • Develop structured, modular training content covering: climate-smart cassava production practices, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Pest and disease management, Post-harvest handling and storage, Processing technologies and food safety standards (KEBS compliance), Product diversification (flour, chips, animal feed, composite products), Business development and enterprise formalization, Financial literacy and access to finance, Digital marketing and market linkage strategies and Safeguarding, inclusion, and youth-responsive approaches.

B. Training Package Development
  • Develop: Facilitator’s Guide, Participant Manual, Practical training exercises, Case studies drawn from Kilifi context, Assessment tools (pre/posttests, competency checklists) and Monitoring tools for training evaluation.

C. Alignment & Validation
  • Align curriculum with: National TVET and agricultural training frameworks (where applicable), County agricultural priorities and Techno Serve donor guidelines, Facilitate a validation workshop with stakeholders and Incorporate feedback and finalize curriculum.

  • Inception report (workplan and methodology)
  • Draft modular curriculum
  • Facilitator and participant manuals
  • Assessment and evaluation tools
  • Final validated curriculum (print-ready and digital versions)
  • PowerPoint training deck for ToT sessions

5. Duration
  • The consultancy is expected to run for 10–14 days, commencing in February 2026.

6. Required QualificationsThe ideal candidate should have:
  • Advanced degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Education, Curriculum Development, or related field
  • At least 7 years’ experience in curriculum development, preferably in agricultural or value chain programming
  • Proven experience in competency-based curriculum design
  • Experience working with youth enterprise programs
  • Familiarity with cassava value chains in coastal Kenya is an added advantage
  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills
