Job Description

Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), established in 1991, is mandated to develop, manage, and operate all major airports in Kenya. The Authority is seeking disciplined and dedicated individuals to join the Fire & Rescue Services Team, supporting aviation safety and emergency response operations.
Position: Firefighter Trainee (100 Positions) 
Job Purpose:
  1. To provide emergency response, firefighting, and rescue services to protect passengers, airport users, and property across KAA-managed airports.

Key Duties
  • Respond to aircraft emergencies and fire incidents within airport premises.
  • Conduct rescue operations to save lives and safeguard property.
  • Inspect and maintain fire engines, vehicles, and firefighting equipment.
  • Participate in daily equipment checks and station cleanliness.
  • Inspect runways, taxiways, aprons, and surrounding airport areas for fuel spills, FODs, and safety hazards.
  • Operate pumps and drive fire engines when required.
  • Take part in scheduled fire and emergency drills.

Minimum Qualifications
  • KCSE Grade C (Plain) – C- (Minus) accepted for applicants from marginalised, minority groups and persons living with disabilities.
  • Basic Fire Training from NYS or a recognized institution is an advantage.
  • EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) certification is an added advantage.
  • Age requirements: 26 years (Born on or after 1 Jan 1999) - Up to 28 years (Born on or after 1 Jan 1997) for marginalised/minority groups & PWDs.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Terms of Service
  1. One-year contract for on-the-job training. Successful trainees will transition to Permanent & Pensionable terms based on performance.
