Job Description
The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established in 1979 to conduct health research in Kenya. KEMRI is inviting applications for a PhD Studentship in Kilifi County, Kenya, for a motivated candidate interested in pursuing a long-term career in malaria research.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Masters degree in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Public Health or a related field.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and statistical methods.
- Hands-on experience in field data collection and coordination of fieldwork activities.
- Practical molecular biology skills, including PCR, RT-PCR, sequencing, cell culture, microscopy and fieldwork.
- Excellent English communication, analytical and writing skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to PhD studies and a long-term career in malaria research.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Willingness to work in Kilifi County for the duration of the studies.
Added Advantage:
- Current registration for a PhD programme at a recognized local or international university, within the first year of study.
- Previous publications in peer-reviewed journals or presentations at scientific meetings, particularly those related to the project research themes.

- A motivation letter of not more than two pages outlining academic and professional background, relevant experience, motivation for undertaking a PhD, learning objectives and future career plans.
- A recent CV of not more than three pages, including current and previous employers, positions held and peer-reviewed publications, if any.
- Certified copies of BSc and MSc academic transcripts and certificates.
- Supporting letters from two professional referees: one academic and one professional or social referee, including their official contact details.
