Job Description

Technical University of Mombasa (TUM), in partnership with Ghent University (Belgium), is recruiting a qualified and motivated Project Manager for the Afya Moja Project: One Health for the Kenyan Coastal Communities.
Position Overview

1. Role: Project Manager
2. Contract: 5 years
3. Reports to: Project Coordinator / Registrar PRI
4. Location: Technical University of Mombasa
5. Appointment: Through the IUC partner institution (TUM)
6. Gross Salary KES 200,000 per month
7. Gratuity 31% of monthly basic salary (over contract period)

Summary of Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and coordinate the Project Support Unit (PSU).
2. Manage preparation, monitoring, and reporting of project budgets and financial statements.
3. Ensure accurate financial reconciliation, transparent procurement processes, and proper documentation.
4. Support audits and risk assessment activities.
5. Provide methodological and technical support to project leaders.
6. Organize and participate in Joint Steering Committee meetings.
7. Support preparation of proposals, work plans, and reports.
8. Facilitate scholar mobility to Belgium and other international destinations.

Minimum Professional Requirements

1. Education: Master’s Degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Public Health, Environmental Management, Development Studies, or a related field.
2. Experience: Minimum of three (3) years managing grants, budgets, and finances—especially for EU-funded projects.
3. Certification: Professional Project Management certification (PMP®, PRINCE2®).
4. Added Advantage: CPA, ACCA, or other Accounting/Finance qualifications.
5. Skills: Strong leadership, coordination abilities, excellent communication, and experience working with international partners.
