- Location: Regional Office (Mombasa), with frequent travel across Kilifi, Kwale and other counties as required.
- Duration: Full-time one year renewable
Position Summary
- InformAction is inviting applications for the position of Driver & Logistics Support Officer. The successful candidate will provide safe and reliable transportation while supporting logistics, field activities, workshops and other operational requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesDriving and Transportation
- Provide safe, reliable and timely transportation for staff, consultants, partners and authorized passengers.
- Drive staff to meetings, field activities, workshops, trainings and other assignments.
- Undertake local and out-of-town travel, including rural and difficult-to-access locations.
- Plan routes and consider traffic, road conditions, weather, security and travel times.
- Comply with traffic laws and organizational travel requirements.
- Conduct routine vehicle checks before and after journeys.
- Check tires, oil, coolant, fuel, lights, brakes and other essential requirements.
- Report mechanical faults, damage and other concerns promptly.
- Ensure servicing and repairs are undertaken as scheduled.
- Keep the vehicle clean and in good working condition.
- Maintain valid vehicle documents, log sheets, fuel records and mileage records.
- Report accidents, incidents and vehicle damage promptly.
- Provide logistical support during workshops, trainings, meetings and field activities.
- Assist with collection, transportation, loading and unloading of equipment and materials.
- Support venue preparation and transportation of participants where required.
- Collect and deliver documents, supplies, equipment and other materials.
- Assist with approved purchases and submit relevant receipts and documentation.
- Support the safe movement and handling of organizational assets.
- Confirm transport and logistical requirements before assignments.
- Plan journeys and activities to meet required timelines.
- Communicate effectively with staff, participants, suppliers and other relevant persons.
- Prioritize the safety of passengers, staff, equipment and organizational assets.
- Follow organizational security and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate records relating to vehicle use, fuel, mileage and servicing.
- Account for funds provided for authorized purchases and submit required documentation.
- Comply with organizational policies and procedures.
- Provide general administrative and operational support as required.
Qualifications
- Valid Kenyan driving license appropriate for the assigned vehicles.
- Diploma in Social Sciences or related fields. A degree would be an added advantage.
- Minimum of three years professional driving experience, preferably within an NGO, development organization, private sector company or other institution.
- Experience driving in rural and difficult road conditions.
- Extensive knowledge of the road network, preferably in one of the focus counties.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Basic understanding of logistics and administrative support.
- Experience supporting workshops, trainings, meetings or field activities is an added advantage.
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct may be required at the appropriate stage of the recruitment process.
- Basic knowledge of occupational health, safety and security practices relevant to driving and field travel.
