Application Requirements
- Position: Driver
- The Driver will be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the organization’s vehicle and will support the transportation needs of the Search for Common Ground Kenya office. The role requires regular travel to project locations to facilitate the implementation of program activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and security of staff, passengers, and the assigned vehicle at all times.
- Operate vehicles and equipment safely, responsibly, and in compliance with Kenyan traffic laws and regulations.
- Provide transportation support to staff, consultants, visitors, and partners as required.
- Assist with travel arrangements, airport transfers, and welcoming visitors and field staff.
- Ensure all passengers wear seat belts and comply with vehicle safety requirements.
- Maintain the assigned vehicle in excellent condition, including cleanliness, fueling, and routine checks.
- Report vehicle damage, defects, or mechanical issues promptly and ensure timely repairs.
- Manage transportation logistics, including loading, unloading, and securing cargo to prevent damage.
- Maintain an excellent driving record and present a valid Kenyan driving license throughout the employment period.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, including changing tyres when necessary, even under challenging weather conditions.
- Support other duties related to logistics and transportation as assigned by the organization.
Applicants must possess:
- A valid Kenyan Driving License (Class B and C).
- Basic vehicle mechanical repair and troubleshooting skills.
- At least three (3) years of driving experience, preferably with NGOs, private sector organizations, or other formal institutions.
- Experience driving in Coastal Kenya, North Eastern Kenya, Nairobi, and other remote locations.
- Fluency in both English and Swahili (spoken and written).
- Defensive Driving Certification.
- A strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and reliability.
Role Details
- Contract Duration: The Driver will be engaged on an employment contract. Working days and hours may vary depending on project requirements.
- Remuneration: A competitive monthly salary will be offered in accordance with the Search for Common Ground Kenya salary structure.
- Reporting Line: The Driver will report to the Associate, Safety, Security and Logistics.
