In close partnership with decision makers - the policymakers, practitioners, investors, and donors working with the poor around the world - IPA designs and evaluates potential solutions to poverty problems.   1. Field Officers - DEP Project (80 Positions)

About the Position:
  • The Field Officer under the general supervision of the Field Manager and within the limits of Innovations for Poverty Action-Kenya policies and procedures will primarily be responsible for collection of high-quality data in the field.
Below is a list of some of the general duties and responsibilities of the Field Officer, to be carried out as needed according to the determination of the Field Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in bench testing and piloting of the survey tool on SurveyCTO to ensure it is up to standard.
  • Data collection which includes conducting in-person and phone surveys and provide feedback on SurveyCTO programming, and assist in survey translations.
  • Ensure proper screening of respondents for identification and administration of informed consent. Interacting with study respondents and project partners with the highest level of integrity and understanding.
  • Providing feedback during debriefs on data collection and survey instruments that will inform and monitor improvements in project operations.
  • Ensure that data integrity is maintained always and minimize errors in data collection and transmission.
  • Completion of scheduled activities each day in a timely manner including keeping logs of work accomplished and callbacks as assigned by the SFO and the DEP Project management.
  • Maintain project inventory (electronic devices, stationery etc) in a safe and secure manner, frequently updating the SFO and DEP project management on their status.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Field Manager/Project management.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma in social sciences, public policy, or related fields.
  • At least 1 year of field research experience.
  • Previous experience collecting data using SurveyCTO in-person and over phone.
  • Demonstrated experience in tracking respondents.

Preferred Experience
  • Candidates who are from or are comfortable working in Nairobi, Nakuru, Naivasha, Kajiado, Kiambu, Machakos, Mombasa, Kilifi North, Kilifi South, Uasin Gishu, Kakamega, Bungoma and Busia.
