Job Description
The IP Network Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the organization’s voice, data, video, and wireless network services. This is achieved through effective planning, design, and development of Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs). The role involves the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. The Network Engineer is also responsible for diagnosing and resolving network-related issues in a timely and accurate manner, while providing technical support and training to end users to ensure optimal system utilization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with department heads to assess near and long-term network capacity needs.
- Create and maintain documentation related to network configuration, mapping, processes, service records, topology, and specifications.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for network administration, usage, security, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Conduct research and proof of concepts (POCs) on new technologies, ensuring compatibility with existing systems, technologies, and protocols.
- Design, deploy, and maintain LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including routers, switches, UPSs, and other network hardware.
- Conduct ongoing research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to stay current with industry developments.
- Oversee the installation, upgrade, and maintenance of network equipment, hardware, and software.
- Liaise with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to procure and support network products and services.
- Design, implement, and maintain IP telephony systems, audio and video systems
- Configure and manage networks to ensure smooth, secure, and reliable operations.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to optimize efficiency and uptime.
- Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end-user hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
- Ensure seamless network connectivity across servers, workstations, telephony equipment, and other network devices.
- Implement and maintain robust network monitoring systems to track performance and generate reports.
- Participate in the implementation and management of network security solutions.
- Conduct network security audits, backups, and recovery processes.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in a relevant field such as Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, and IT
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification required
- 3 years relevant experience required
- Cyber security certification and experience desired
