Job Description

The Fred Hollows Foundation is an international development organisation dedicated to preventing blindness and restoring sight by improving access to quality eye care.
Job Summary
  • The Regional Coordinator will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of eye health programmes across Mombasa, Taita Taveta, Kilifi and Kwale counties. The role involves working with county governments, healthcare providers and partners to strengthen eye care services, improve workforce capacity, promote advocacy and reduce avoidable blindness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation, coordination and monitoring of regional eye health programmes.
  • Manage project work plans, budgets, reporting and partner accountability.
  • Build partnerships with county governments, health departments and other stakeholders.
  • Lead, mentor and support regional staff and strengthen partner capacity.
  • Promote quality improvement, equitable access to eye care and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Represent the Foundation at regional eye health forums and support advocacy initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, International Development or Health Systems.
  • At least 5–6 years experience managing health programmes in an INGO context.
  • Experience in public health service delivery, project management, advocacy and health systems strengthening.
  • Experience working with Ministries of Health, county governments and development partners.
  • Proven experience managing donor-funded programmes, staff and stakeholder partnerships.
  • Strong communication, presentation, leadership and relationship management skills.
  • Experience working with coastal counties is an added advantage.

Location: 
  • Coast Region, Kenya. The successful candidate must be based in the region by the start date. Relocation support is not provided.
