Job Description

Since becoming a fully-fledged university in 2013, it has expanded into a vibrant academic hub offering diverse programs across Agriculture, Business, Health Sciences, Education, and more. The Pwani University Technical and Vocational Training College (PU-TVET) invites applications from suitable qualified candidates to fill the position of Technical Trainers Grade 7.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates in the following technical areas:
  1. AGRICULTURE - AGED/ANHE/GEN AGRIC/APD 
  2. APPLIED SCIENCES - ICT/COMPUTER SCIENCES OR ANY APPLIED SCIENCES
  3. BUSINESS - ACCOUNTS/BUSINESS/HOSPITALITY 
  4. HEALTH SCIENCES - NURSING/CLINICAL MED/COMM HEALTH 
  5. LIBERAL ARTS - PSYCHOLOGY/CRIMINAL JUSTICE 
  6. EDUCATION - COMMUNICATION/Bed SCI/Bed ARTS 

Qualifications
  1. The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree OR Higher National Diploma in any of the mentioned technical areas from an accredited and recognized institution.
  2. Must be registered TVETA trainers, Level 6 or with Pedagogy training from KSTVET or recognized institution
  3. Be a member of relevant professional body
  4. Must have relevant work experience as a TVET trainer
  5. Demonstrate community involvement

Key Responsibilities
  • Instruct trainees in assigned coursework using recommended curriculum and occupational standards
  • Plan, conduct and assess practical lessons in the assigned coursework
  • Develop learning materials for the assigned coursework
  • Prepare, validate and administer course assessment materials
  • Supervise assessments, grade and process assessment reports
  • Maintaining Portfolio of Evidence (POEs) and other formative assessment materials as required by TVET CDACC or any other relevant assessment bodies.
  • Preparing trainees for external competency assessments
  • Mentor students and maintain class attendance records
  • Supervise both internal and external assessments
  • Supervise trainees on industrial attachment program
  • Any other duty as assigned by the Director
